The School of Nursing offers 2 major tracks; the length of each track differs.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) is about 2.5 years

Pre-nursing to BSN is about 3.5 years

LVN to RN and LVN to BSN tracks are not offered. Although an LVN is not required for the BSN program, due to the fact that SON implements a holist point-system, an LVN carries the most points under the Clinical Experience category.

In Spring (March) and Fall (September) quarters, the School of Nursing;

Accepts applications from eligible transfer students with 9 nursing prerequisites completed from accredited colleges

Admits qualified AUHS pre-nursing students into the BSN program

SON admits transfer students who have achieved the following: A 2.5 minimum Entrance GPA

A 2.5 minimum Science GPA

A 2.5 minimum Pre-requisite GPA

A minimum of 65% on the TEAS

The science classes must have been taken within 5 years by enrollment. The expired prerequisites can be repeated at AUHS or at any other accredited schools as long as the course met AUHS transfer credit policy.

No, you do not have to have all the prerequisites before applying to the university. If you wish to apply to the BSN program, completion of the 9 prerequisites is required.

In order for the AUHS pre-nursing students to be admitted by SON, they must have completed and at least met the Nursing Admission requirements; otherwise, they will not start the nursing program.

AUHS Nursing Admission is on a rolling system: first come, first serve. In other words, as long as you have completed and met/exceeded the minimum admission requirements and as long as the program has not yet reached its capacity, SON will continue to review and make admission decisions.
